Preparing Your Car for Winter in St. George, UT
We have been considering our customers and their vehicle’s readiness for reliable performance and safety as winter weather arrives in St. George, UT. We know that many vital components with short service lives have worked hard in the heat of summer. These components are susceptible to faulty performance when exposed to extreme temperatures and significant temperature fluctuations between seasons. Beyond keeping these components at their best, other parts should be inspected and serviced for winter safety.
Winter Vehicle Preparation Maintenance Tips and Services
We have organized a list of winter preparation maintenance tips to improve a vehicle’s reliable performance and safety in sub-zero temperatures and icy road conditions. When you need to ready your vehicle for winter travels, be sure to start here:
Heater, Defroster & Heating Accessories
You will need strong heating and defrosting in cold and icy winter conditions. Be sure to inspect the heater and defroster to ensure they are blowing out hot air. Equipped models should also inspect the steering wheel and seat warmers for guaranteed comfort when you need it most.
Battery Inspection with Electrical Testing
With batteries notoriously susceptible to extreme temperatures, you should get the battery inspected with electrical testing to confirm it is storing and providing enough electricity.
Tires
With slippery road conditions ahead, you should get a tire inspection, including a tread depth measurement and inflation check. You will need sufficient tread depth for optimal traction in adverse road conditions. You will also need inflation pressures at specifications to support optimal traction. You might also consider installing a new tire with seasonal tread for enhanced traction.
Windshield Wiper Blades & Winter Blend Fluid<
You will need to inspect and replace old windshield wiper blades to enhance windshield clearing capacity and visibility in adverse winter weather. It is also a good idea to switch to a winter blend wiper fluid specially designed to help remove ice from the windshield.
Antifreeze/Coolant Fluid
Since this fluid is needed to keep the engine cool in all seasons and prevent it from freezing in the winter, it is always good to inspect and exchange it as needed between seasons.
